WHY MESSAGING MATTERS
Messaging is so much more than a catchy tagline or great copy (though believe me, those are important); it is a powerful tool to make meaningful connections with your team and your customers.
Creating messages that matter requires you to:
SHOW UP AUTHENTICALLY
There’s a person behind the business you’ve created. Don’t be afraid to let that show. Avoid gimmicks and tactics and allow your vulnerability to lead the way. Your team and your customers will respond.
COMMUNICATE DISTINCTLY
Take the time to figure out what sets your business apart and use that as a springboard to craft messages that communicate this. This moves your communication away from dusty and dull and toward the vigor and vitality that will energize your team and draw your audience in to learn more.
SERVE GENEROUSLY
Your messaging should focus on the problem you’ll solve for your audience and how your work benefits them. Show them–over and over–that you’re here to serve them by listening, responding, and pivoting when they tell you something needs to change. This is how you foster connection and create raving fans.
When you align your message in these ways (and take care to remain consistent!) the meaningful connections you create will generate growth and increase your impact.
The quicker people know what you’re about and why it matters to them the quicker they will engage. Investing in clear, compelling, consistent messaging will pay dividends to your business—from the inside out—and free you to pursue your work with renewed passion and purpose.
